Replacement, Reinforcement and Security in 3 Days.
Slab sawing - CONCRETE POURING
This is how we replaced a concrete floor, installed a drainage slope, and reinforced the perimeter in just 72 hours to ensure the continued operations of JeldWen Inc.
A Critical Requirement for the Industrial Environment
In demanding industrial environments, such as manufacturing plants—in this case, commercial window manufacturing—safety and functionality are essential. Our client presented us with a specific request for their compressor room: precise demolition and replacement of the concrete to create a slope leading to a new emergency drainage system (sump pump) to manage any liquid spills.
This required:
- Ensuring the exact pitch required for drainage.
- Structurally reinforcing the new floor and perimeter.
- Executing the project with maximum efficiency to minimize operational disruption.
The Three-Phase Solution
Day 1: Preparation, Demolition, and Formwork
The day began with securing the surrounding area and removing obsolete elements, such as unused electrical conduits.
Controlled Demolition: Precise cuts were made to extract the existing concrete.
Site Preparation: The exact slope necessary for any liquid to flow to the sump pump area was defined and created.
Perimeter Reinforcement (Trenches): Trenches were excavated around the building and reinforced with rebar to provide structural stability.
Day 2: High-Performance Concrete Placement
With the formwork and reinforcement complete, it was time to place the material.
Fiberglass Reinforced Concrete: 4000 PSI concrete, a high-strength standard for industrial environments, was ordered.
Finishing and Leveling: The slope into the concrete box was verified for the future installation of the sump pump.
Day 3: Finishing, Control Joints, and Release
The focus was on the precision of the finish and cleanliness.
Control Joint Cutting: Within the first 24 hours after pouring, the control joints were cut. These cuts are vital to guide the natural cracking of the concrete, preventing unwanted cracks and maintaining the integrity of the floor.
Formwork Removal: The wood forms were removed, and the details were finished to ensure a clean and presentable finish.
The Precision of Our Work Is Your Best Investment
This project highlights the core values we offer our clients.
Guaranteed Regulatory Compliance: We ensured the installation of the pitch and drainage system to meet our client’s requirements and safety standards.
Minimized Disruption: We completed a complex demolition, excavation, and finishing project in just 3 days, allowing for a rapid resumption of operations.
Comprehensive Structural Solutions: We didn’t just replace a floor; we reinforced the perimeter and used fiber-reinforced concrete for a durable, long-term solution.
