Hand sawing - REMOVAL CONCRETE

For this project, the client originally called us to cut a wall, or possibly several walls. It was expected to be a standard concrete cutting job.
However, when we arrived at the site, the first thing we noticed was that the wall was no longer there.

The reason was that the wall had already collapsed. It was a structure that extended up to the second floor and had fallen the night before. Based on the information provided on site, another company had excavated underneath the structure, and that condition was not properly accounted for from a structural standpoint.

If this had happened while crews were on site, the outcome could have been much worse.

After evaluating the site, the scope of work changed completely. Instead of cutting the wall, the main task became cutting a very thick concrete foundation that was left exposed after the collapse. Due to the thickness of the concrete, Hydraulic Handsaw were required to complete the work safely.

Equipment utilized:

Hydraulic Handsaw 30” (Diamond Disc)

This approach allowed staged cutting depths, controlled separation, and reduced vibration, protecting adjacent structural components.

Structural Steel and Slab Cutting

The project scope also included:

Structural steel cutting and removal of four steel columns
Controlled cutting and demolition of reinforced concrete slab sections
Cutting of a large structural steel beam located on the second floor

All steel cutting operations were performed only after confirming load release and verifying structural stability.

Project Duration

The total project duration was three working days, including mobilization, cutting operations, material removal, and site cleanup.
