Slab sawing - Hand sawing
The expansion of commercial chains like Compare Supermarkets requires fast, precise, and well-planned execution. In these types of projects, every cut matters, and being prepared to adapt to the site conditions makes all the difference. This job demanded not only technical expertise but also the ability to anticipate challenges: from working at night to dealing with physical space limitations—everything had to be handled without delays. That’s where Helder’s Concrete Cutting Company’s preparation and team coordination came into play.
Project summary
In collaboration with EDC Construction, Helder’s Concrete Cutting took part in the preparation of a new location for the New York-based supermarket chain Compare Supermarkets, currently expanding into Florida. The project involved cutting 16 sections of concrete flooring to allow for plumbing and electrical installations. Due to space constraints, a slab saw was used in open areas and a hand saw was used in narrow spaces with limited access. The work was carried out at night to avoid interfering with other stages of the project, and the team was made up of a lead cutting operator and four assistants, ensuring fast, safe, and precise execution.
